TikiTown is a full service music recording studio based in Mill Valley, California. It has earned the reputation as a haven for aspiring new artists as well as household name legends. With all of the creature comforts of home, a gym, a music museum, San Francisco Bay views and state-of –the-art equipment (with both vintage and new technology) TikiTown is a private oasis that inspires creativity.

If I have heard it once, I have heard it 1,000 times; "What's with the TIKI fixation?"

Well, what can I say that a Tiki God couldn't say better? If they are in fact holding some mighty powers in them, all I know is they have been very good to me. First off, the draw (personally) is mostly one of an aesthetic appreciation. Tikis represent cool. I first started wearing one around my neck in 1966 while visiting Hawaii as a wee lad and I have been wearing some version of Tiki ever since. Then for some reason, I stepped up my game and began carving them when I was in my teens. BIG wooden ones - some self portraits and others with simple names like; 'Mel'.

As it turns out, I am not the only one to be inspired by these magnificent primitive figures. Pablo Picasso himself had a Tiki proudly placed in front of him while he did his art. He was very influenced by the power of Tiki so it should come as no surprise that if one looks up the meaning of 'TIKI' in A.W. Reed's Concise Maori Dictionary (and where better to look than to the mighty Maoris?) one will find; TIKI: God of the artists.

Are we good now? I mean, you can't top that one...

Introduction to Mary Ezzell
Mary Ezzell  is the gatekeeper on the road to TikiTown. All submissions (solicited or unsolicited) go through her golden ears. All bios are read by her lovely green eyes. Once she hears and/or feels something that catches her imagination she pushes things forward by placing the music in the coveted ‘keeper’ pile on Scott’s desk with a brief note explaining what appeals to her. She also knows what touches Scott’s ‘monkey nerve’ by being tuned into his taste and eclectic musical approach – thus making her the perfect partner in this all-important, critical role. Those that don’t make the cut are kindly informed via email usually within one month of it being received.

Hit or Myth Productions is a full service music production company with a strong emphasis on finding new artists and making world class music recordings that get them heard on a large scale. We work primarily with self-contained artists (singer/songwriters and bands), therefore are not seeking outside material for publishing deals. We do not do 'spec' deals because we believe all artists should own their masters and publishing until such time that they have had success and wish to sell these valuable resources. We want our artists' careers to last the test of time the way that Scott’s has.
